How to Create the Life You Want

Follow your bliss.

How to Create the Life You Want


A very short time ago, I was happy but felt I wanted a change. I loved my life but there were some things I that wanted to change. I think no matter how much you love your life, there will likely always be something you want to change, or do differently.

Here are some steps for how to create the life you want to live.

Know what you want

You can’t live the life you want unless you know what kind of life you want.

Sit and imagine what you really want in your life. Visualize yourself living a life that truly makes you happy. What do you see?

Ways to visualize the life you want:

  • create a vision board with images and words of your ideal life

  • write a list of all the things you want in your life including the job you want, where you want to live, what you want to do in your spare time, etc.

  • don’t worry about how you’re going to obtain this life, you just want to let yourself dream and imagine what you want in it.

The only way you can get what you want is to actually know what you want. By visualizing your ideal life, you can see what you need to work on to obtain those things and start creating an action plan to make these things happen.

Focus on what you want

Once you know what you want included in your life (and what you don’t want), you can work on an action plan to get it.

If you’re worried about things that seem too hard to get, or you have no idea how you could possibly life such a wonderful life- stop worrying.

When you know what you want your ideal life to look like, you focus your thoughts and energy into making this a reality, and you put your ideas into action, you can make it happen. It might take some time, and a lot of work, but you can live the life you want.

Start by thinking of 1-2 things that you could start to creating this life you want. Then think (you might want to write these down) of action steps you can do to achieve them. It might be people you need to meet, things you need to get rid of, books you need to read, classes you need to take. Write everything down and then choose an action to begin with.

You need to focus on what you want, and then take action on the things you know will bring you closer to your ideal life.

Believe you can

Is living your ideal life seem too good to be true?

Believing that you can achieve and have the things in your life that would make your life the life you want, is one of the first steps of actually living the life you want.

If you don’t believe you can ever achieve these things, or don’t believe you deserve it, it will be a struggle to make it happen.

It’s normal to have doubts, and wonder how you can ever achieve these things. But you can. Everyone is able to live a life they want.

Put into action

One thing I have a hard time with, is any method of achieving what you want that doesn’t include action. Visualizing and believing is absolutely a valuable part of the process, but working on achieving those dreams, and actually doing something about it is where the real momentum starts.

Now if one of your goals is to live in your dream house, I don’t expect you to run out and start building it, but some action steps would be to meet with the bank to see how much money you need, create a budget and start saving money for your dream home, talk to a real estate agent, or home builder to learn about the steps and cost, etc.

Little action steps start you moving forward and builds the momentum needed to living the life you want.
